Monday, February 1st was the day of the Sketch Model Challenge competition. With Tuesday's lab donned in black and Thursday's donned in red, the battle to determine the best lab section began!
In round one, the TRON cart held together well - it wasn't until the end of the round that a back support on the cart was broken. In the next round, a wall came loose due to the force of the rope holding the cart and rider's weight. With nothing left to support the rope, it was uncertain how we would continue the fight. But nay, we shall not give up, cried the team! Anliker had an idea. By tying the lengthy rope around and under the cart, he managed to keep Team RHR in the game! Fortunately, no further damage was sustained by the cart, and the team performed well in subsequent rounds - with much credit to Adique's driving skill and Grudowski & Anliker's dodgeball skills!
Ultimately, eight rounds were played in total, with Thursday's lab emerging victorious, 5 to 3.
Overall, it was a fun experience - both the design/fabrication process and the game itself. As mentioned in the previous post, our team had gambled on snow and lost. Considering this, however, we managed to adequately retrofit our sled into a wheeled vehicle in the time we had left. It may have come apart during the competition, but it served its primary function - being able to roll around in the grass - until the very end. As a team, we were happy with what we accomplished. In the next lab, we will begin our final project, starting with need/solution generation.
